A Discord AI agent is an AI worker present in a Discord server (or DMs) as a bot user. How a Provision Discord AI agent works

Setup is a one-time Discord OAuth flow that adds the bot to your server. Once connected, the agent participates in channels you give them access to, responds in threads and DMs, and runs all its work through the managed OpenClaw runtime.

  1. 1. Connect Discord from the Provision dashboard

    Hit Connect on the Discord tile. Choose the server (or servers) the agent should join, authorize the bot scopes, and you're done.

  2. 2. Pick channels and permissions

    By default the agent has access only to the channels you explicitly grant. You can scope down to a single #ai-team channel or open it up to the whole server. The agent only reads messages in channels it's been added to.

  3. 3. @-mention or DM

    Mention the agent in a channel or send a direct message. They reply inline, kick off background work for longer tasks, and post updates as they finish. Slash commands work too if you prefer — but conversational requests are the primary mode.

  4. 4. Threads and ongoing work

    For multi-step tasks, the agent often spawns a thread to keep the back-and-forth contained. Other team members can join the thread to review, redirect, or take over.

Does the Provision Discord agent require a custom bot?
